Description & Requirements


Job Description: Service Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards. He or she will also oversee the work of any apprentice technician assigned to him/her. 

Job Duties: 
  • Perform complete diagnosis of any mechanical, electrical, or other failure of a motor, truck, or its components. 
  • Determine and perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards. 
  • Observe and listen to trucks in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures. 4. Road test repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications. 
  • Communicate with the Parts department to obtain the parts needed. 
  • Advise service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised. 
  • Document all completed repairs in system. 
  • Attend factory sponsored training classes. 
  • Keep the shop area neat and clean by complying with preventive maintenance schedules and be able to account for all dealership owned tools at all times. 
  • Possess and exercise excellent communication skills will all employees, manager, customers and suppliers of Mid-State. 
  • Follow all company guidelines as instructed regarding hazard communication, lockout/tag out, emergency procedures, etc. 
  • Comprehend, interpret, makes inference, and apply knowledge from shop service manuals to follow recommended repair procedures, as well as repair histories in performing diagnostic and repair activities. 
  • Understand and follow company, federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
Qualifications
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, manuals, and catalogs.
  • Ability to use electronic diagnostic and test equipment.
  • Ability to operate power and hand tools and other equipment safely
  • Manual dexterity necessary.
  • Must obtain commercial driver’s license and keep good driving record.
  • Ordinary vision, hearing, and communication functions. 
  • Ability to reach and grasp objects/dexterity of fine motor skills.
  • Will be required to wear a dealership-provided uniform.
Working Conditions:

The Service Technician will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Road testing of vehicles may be required.
